Walking Tour Cádiz
An Old Town walk in a small group — three hours with a guide who calls Cádiz home.
Cádiz is the oldest continuously inhabited city in Western Europe — a bright peninsula in the Atlantic, where three thousand years of history rest in the same narrow streets. On this walk I won't show you a list of sights — I'll show you a place full of stories: Phoenician walls and Baroque façades in the same shadow, hidden patios full of jasmine, an old sailor's tavern, a balcony with the best view in town. Guided in English, in a small group — so there's time for your questions and the whole walk feels like wandering through the city with a friend.

A loop of about 2.5 kilometres at a relaxed pace, with several stops. We begin and end at the same place.

Plaza San Juan de Dios
Our meeting point on the former sea channel — the lively central square next to the city hall, where the story of modern Cádiz begins.

Barrio del Pópulo
The medieval heart of the city: three surviving medieval gates, narrow alleys, the oldest stones in the Old Town.

Plaza de la Catedral
The golden dome of the Cathedral above the Atlantic — financed by the trade with the Americas, built from oyster-stone limestone that makes the city glow gold.

Mercado Central
A short pause at the lively belly of the Old Town — where the Atlantic arrives at dawn and where Cádiz really eats.

Castillo de San Sebastián
A sea-side watchtower that once protected the city from corsairs — today, the finest view of the open Atlantic.

Parque Genovés
The green salon of Cádiz: more than a hundred kinds of trees and shrubs, fountains, shaded paths, a piece of botanical history.

Plaza San Antonio
The 19th-century bourgeois Cádiz — Baroque church, elegant townhouses, once the stage of grand celebrations.

Plaza Mina
A shaded finale beneath old trees, by the Museum of Cádiz with its Phoenician sarcophagi — before we loop back to Plaza San Juan de Dios.
Along the way we'll pass Torre Tavira from outside, hear why it once watched over the merchant ships, and discover patios and alleys most visitors walk straight past.

Where exactly do we meet?+
At the Segismundo Moret monument on Plaza San Juan de Dios — the large statue in the middle of the square, opposite the city hall. The square is just a few minutes' walk from the port and the cruise terminal. You'll recognise me by my Explore Cádiz shirt.
How long does the tour last?+
Around 2.5 to 3 hours, covering about 2.5 km at a relaxed pace with several breaks.
What happens if it rains?+
The tour goes ahead in almost any weather — if it rains, we take an umbrella. The narrow alleys of the old town offer good shelter anyway, and only in heavy weather will we find an alternative date together.
